Where to find it in the menuโ€‹

Search button in the navigation rail ยท Ctrl+K / Ctrl+F

How to useโ€‹

  1. Open the menu (Insert) and click Search or press Ctrl+K (Ctrl+F also works).
  2. Start typing the name of a feature or setting.
  3. Select a result with the โ†‘/โ†“ arrows and press Enter (or click it). Esc closes search.

The menu opens the right tab and page, switches the sub-tab and highlights the found row.

What it doesโ€‹

  • Searches the names of tabs, pages and setting rows. Hints and descriptions are not taken into account.
  • Some rows also have extra keywords: the row is found by them too, in any menu language. For example, the camera distance in Dota 2 is found by "zoom out".
  • A name is searched in all menu languages at once: you can type the English or Russian name regardless of the selected language.
  • Understands a query typed in the wrong keyboard layout: fbv (the Russian word for "aim" typed on an English layout) finds the aim settings.
  • Understands transliteration: a query in Latin letters finds Russian names (avto finds names starting with the Russian word for "Autoโ€ฆ").
  • Exact matches come first, then matches at the start of a name, then matches in the middle.
  • Results are grouped by tab. Results from the currently open tab come first.
  • If a group has more than 4 matches, 3 are shown first. The rest are opened with the Show more (N) row. Up to 96 results are shown in total.
  • If nothing is found โ€” "No results".
  • With an empty query, Recent is shown: the last 5 results you jumped to. Delete removes the selected item from recent, Clear removes the whole list.

Menu navigation

  • Alt+โ† / Alt+โ†’ โ€” back and forward through the history of opened menu pages.
  • Right-click a row shown outside its own page (in results, in the hotkeys list) โ†’ Go to opens its page.
  • Some tabs have their own search field above the page list (for example, the hero search in the Heroes tab in Deadlock). While the cursor is in it, โ†‘/โ†“ pick a page in the filtered list (it is highlighted) and Enter opens it. With a non-empty query, Enter opens the first match right away.

FAQโ€‹

Search doesn't find a setting by its description. Search looks only at the names of rows, pages and tabs. Try a keyword from the name, in English or Russian.

Ctrl+K doesn't open search. The shortcut works only while the menu is open and the menu tour is not running.

Only 3 rows from a tab are shown in the results, but there are more matches. Click Show more (N) under that tab's group.
